On Monday 9th March,

Arnside & Arnside Knott WI were pleased to host an informative and highly practical demonstration on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of a defibrillator, delivered by Kerry Stafford-Roberts.

The session provided attendees with essential knowledge and hands-on insight into responding effectively in emergency situations involving cardiac arrest. Kerry and his two helpers guided participants through the key principles of CPR, including correct hand positioning, compression depth, and rhythm, emphasising the importance of acting quickly and confidently.

A central part of the demonstration focused on the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Attendees were shown how straightforward and safe these devices are to operate, with clear step-by-step instructions on how to deploy them in a real-life scenario. The session helped to demystify the process and reinforced the critical role defibrillators play in improving survival rates.

Participants had the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with the equipment, helping to build both understanding and confidence. The demonstration highlighted how vital these life-saving skills are within the community and the difference that immediate action can make.

We would like to thank Kerry Stafford-Roberts and his two helpers for delivering such a valuable and engaging session, and to everyone who attended and took part.

"Our WI have just had a crazy, fun afternoon with a very energetic passionate Jen Wroe from ‘Drum Nation’.

We didn’t know exactly what to expect so when she turned up in a big white van and started unloading lots of different sized drums our curiosity grew.

Within an hour she had everyone drumming in time and all went home afterwards buzzing . Amazing!!" by Pam

On the 7th June 2023 we had a wonderful outing to the RHS Garden at Bridgewater. Glorious gardens set in historic landscape. Well worth a visit. Thank you Janet for organising everything.

On May 22nd 2023 five of the WI members who volunteered to help create the 10,000 daffodils display at Lowther Castle went to view their, and everyone else's handywork. Set in gardens next to the renovated summer house the daffodils made a riotous display 'growing' alongside the natural grasses and wildflowers surrounding them.
